OUR SCHOOL

Britt David Magnet Academy, when created, was a technology magnet at the forefront of elementary education. Now, all schools are technology magnets, and this theme is antiquated with no purpose. We are changing our magnet theme to Advanced College Preparatory with CTAE Integration. Teachers are teaching the state standards at an accelerated rate to allow opportunities to integrate and explore Georgia’s seventeen career clusters. Each grade-level will have assigned clusters to integrate with their science and social studies standards. Specials’ teachers will integrate the career clusters that are aligned with their standards. This will allow for a more focused and individualized instructional  experience that is intentional and project-based to allow for career cluster exploration with the incorporation of social and emotional learning.

Program Description

Britt David Magnet Academy Advanced College Preparatory with CTAE Integration will apply all of Georgia’s 17 Career Clusters to prepare elementary students for a secondary/post secondary experience. This task will be accomplished by providing introductory academic instruction so that students acquire skills and advanced training leading to a successful transition into secondary/post secondary education. This preparation will be incorporated into an academic year in the following ways.

Career, Technical, & Agricultural Education (CTAE) Exploration

  • Study and expose students to Georgia’s 17 Career Clusters and how they relate to state standards.

  • CTAE will provide academic skills and real-world experiences necessary to build fulfilling careers in the 21st century and compete in the global marketplace.

    • Project-Based Learning (PBL) with CTAE Community Focus

    • Career Related Education (CRE)

    • Parent-Led Work Experiences (PWE)

    • CTAE Groups & Clubs

    • Portfolio Development

Academic Excellence

Teaching and learning will focus on aligned instruction and research-based design through the integration of a research-based, project-based learning model with emphasis on soft skill development and the engineering design process. This design will not only expose students to state standards in ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies, but will integrate career specific pathways with a community focus. Students will be exposed to critical thinking, communication, creative problem-solving, and collaboration, which are skills needed to be successful in secondary and postsecondary opportunities.

Students will engage in real-world, project-based learning experiences, which will require students to be proficient across all content areas. The curriculum will demand teachers to possess the required pedagogy and knowledge of highly effective, research-based instructional strategies that will be needed to plan and deliver high quality instruction to different types of learners based on readiness, interest, and learning profile. Through the use of these strategies, along with the gradual release of responsibilities, classrooms will become student-focused rather than teacher-focused, and will require students to apply the skills and knowledge learned to real-world situations and problems.
